Research: Sophie Calle
‘For months I followed strangers in the street. For the pleasure of following them, not because they particularly interested me. I photographed them without their knowledge, took note of their movements, then finally lost sight of them and forgot them. At the end of January 1980, on the streets of Paris, I followed a man whom I lost sight of a few minutes later in the crowd. That very evening, by chance, he was introduced to me at an opening. During the course of our conversation, he told me he was planning an imminent trip to Venice.’
Sophie Calle is a French artist and photographer. In one project she followed a man on holiday in Venice and then published the pictures of him. I really like the pictures she took because they look like they have been made in a sneaky way.
First photo shoot: School
I took these pictures because I come to school everyday and I always travel the same way. I went down to the office and spoke to Carol who organises the corridor supervisors. She arranged for one of the ladies to walk around the building whilst I followed her and took several photographs. I was inspired by the work of an artist called Sophie Calle who followed a man around Venice for a couple of weeks. He didn't know he was being followed at the time so she was using her camera to spy on him.
WWW:I really like the way that I have composed the pictures, thinking about using interesting angles and viewpoints. For example, the one of the lady walking upstairs is shot from a low angle looking up. The one of her walking across the link shows the perspective of the metal walkway disappearing in the distance.

EBI:It would be better if I took more pictures. Next time i'm going to try other coloured to make it better.

picture 1: I see a scrunched up paper it probably has been used for a long time or probably it has been in somebody's pocket. I think this person can't remember things like he will probably forget to put the house alarm on or forget to lock the door up so what he did he wrote the things he has to then stick it to the wall and then when he wakes up he can remember what do and this is the thing that relates to ritual he looks at that paper every morning to remember what to do. I think if people saw this picture might congrats this photographer because this photographer clearly told people that he can't remember things and write because the paper is scruffy its hard to read and we think why didn't this photographer didn't rewrite it to another a paper its probably this person can't write.
picture2: This person doesn't probably want to throw the old shampoo away probably because it reminds the person something that did in the past with those shampoo or it can be a collection. The person still might want to use the old shampoo instead of throwing it away this what it relates to ritual washing your hands everyday.

Typologies
A typology in photography is where you collect lots of pictures of similar things but they are all slightly different. I am interested in using the idea of typologies to think about rituals because they are about repeating similar things.
Typology is when you take lots of images and they look kind of similar to one another for a example if i took pictures of people wearing a blue jumper they look similar but the only thing we focusing on how different would it look.
My plan was to take photo of people wearing their school uniform and see the difference.
My plan has worked some people wear jumpers or jackets and they all have different personalty and size. This also relates to ritual because they're wearing school uniform to go to school.
My final outcome.
I'm going to create a story board the images are going to be about one particular student doing what he does in school.
WWW:
i tried my best to capture the perfect moment of the images and i really focused on what students are doing i tried to keep it simple and easy.
EBI: i could of try of asking more people to be in the picture so i can make it a better picture.
